School dialogue set today
LAFAYETTE — The second round of community dialogues that will shape the school district’s master plan will be held today and Thursday.
Both sessions will include presentations on the district’s demographics and facility conditions.
Today’s session will be held at 6 p.m. at J.W. Faulk Elementary. Another session will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Plantation Elementary.
During the sessions, members of the master planning team brief participants on their findings. Participants then offer feedback in small group settings and also individually via surveys.
The public input guides the planning process, said Chris Pellegrin of CSRS Inc., the firm hired by the school district to develop the master plan.
The dialogues are a way for the public to stay connected to the process by learning firsthand from team members the status of the facilities and the project.
It’s also a way for the team to connect with the public.
The process is a grassroots effort, Pellegrin said.
The first session, held in September, focused on school size, grade level configurations and educational programming.
The sessions will continue every other month through May, when the master plan draft will be presented to the public.
CSRS has created a Web site that enables the public to stay informed about the project. Presentations made to the School Board and other information is available for viewing at the site: http://lpss.csrsonline.com
