Police seek man accused of rape
Police are looking for a man accused of kidnapping a 33-year-old woman early Thursday and raping her in the parking lot of a Hatcher Avenue apartment complex.
The woman was approached by a man in a green sport utility vehicle before 2:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Florida Boulevard, police spokesman Sgt. Don Kelly said.
The man grabbed the victim and forced her inside the vehicle after she had approached the attacker, mistakenly thinking he was a friend, Kelly said.
He then raped the woman inside the vehicle, parked at an apartment complex at 4430 Hatcher Ave., Kelly said.
Police were called to the complex about 2:30 a.m. by someone who saw the woman trying to crawl underneath a car in the parking lot, Kelly said. The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of facial injuries.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at (225) 389-3853 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
Apartment manager arrested in theft
Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 34-year-old woman Wednesday accused of stealing more than $12,000 from her employer, Family Manor Apartments on Plank Road, court records show.
Shanetria Parker, who was a manager at the complex, took tenants’ rent money by making their money orders out to herself, an affidavit of probable cause says. She also issued fraudulent receipts for work that was never done.
Parker told investigators she was “in a financial bind and needed the money,” the affidavit says.
Deputies arrested Parker at her residence, 6813 Aspen Drive, and booked her into Parish Prison on 22 counts of forgery and two counts of theft.
