Early Nov.14 ballots cast
Early voting kicked off Saturday with 450 voters casting their ballots for the Nov. 14 election, said Elaine Lamb, East Baton Rouge Parish Registrar of Voters.
The main issue facing East Baton Rouge voters is the 30-year, $901 million bond issue that would pay for projects including a new parish prison, juvenile services facility, public safety complex, drainage improvements, synchronization of traffic lights and the Alive Riverfront Park.
The tax package includes a one-half cent sales tax and a 9.9-mill property tax.
Those voters who still want to cast an early ballot can do so this week, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday at one of four locations: Governmental Building — 222 St. Louis St., Room 201;
Court Plaza Building — 10500 Coursey Blvd., Room 203; Baker Office: Motor Vehicle Building — 2250 Main St.; and the Secretary of State Archives Building — 3851 Essen Lane.
