EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH
Parishwide Metro Council proposition
To levy for 30 years a ‰-cent sales tax, estimated at this time to generate $41.5 million a year, and a 9.9-mill property tax, estimated to generate $31 million a year. Through the issuance of bonds and on a pay-as-you-go basis, $901 million will be raised for a new parish prison, a juvenile services facility and public safety complex, as well as City Hall consolidation, traffic signal improvements, drainage improvements, economic development, Baton Rouge River Center improvements, parking garages and the “Alive” riverfront development project.
Hermitage Crime Prevention District proposition
To levy a 10-year, $100 parcel fee, estimated to generate $56,600 a year.
Concord Estates Crime Prevention District proposition
To levy a four-year, $69.50 annual parcel fee, estimated to generate $20,400 in 2010.
Evangeline Parish
Pine Prairie Proposition 1
To continue to levy a 10-year, 2-mill property tax, generating an estimated $7,800 a year, for police protection.
Pine Prairie Proposition 2
To continue to levy a 10-year, 7-mill property tax, generating an estimated $26,800 a year, for street maintenance.
Pine Prairie Proposition 3
To continue to levy a 10-year, 5-mill property tax, generating an estimated $19,700 a year, for street construction.
Pine Prairie Proposition 4
To continue to levy a 9-year, 3-mill property tax, generating an estimated $10,525 a year, for recreation.
St. Helena Parish
Parishwide Police Jury proposition
To renew a 10-year, 5-mill property tax, generating an estimated $212,000 a year, for road and bridge repairs.
Fifth Ward Fire Protection District 1 proposition
To renew a 10-year, 10-mill property tax, generating an estimated $64,500 a year. (Amite and Kentwood areas.)
Fire Protection District 2 proposition
To continue to levy a 10-year, 10.05-mill property tax, generating an estimated $88,400 a year. (Pine Grove area.)
St. Landry Parish
Opelousas proposition
To renew a 15-year, 1-cent sales tax, generating an estimated $4 million a year, for: First, garbage and waste disposal facilities and waterworks facilities; second, police and fire stations and facilities; third, sewer works, streets, sidewalks and bridges, including employee salaries.
St. Mary Parish
Waterworks District 5 proposition
Authority to issue $2.6 million in general obligation bonds, not to exceed 30 years and to be repaid with property tax revenues. (Centerville, Verdunville and the rural area near Patterson.)
Tangipahoa parish
Recall proposition
To recall Dave Higgenbotham, Ponchatoula City Council.
Gravity Drainage District 5 proposition
To continue to levy a 10-year, 4.29-mill property tax, generating an estimated $65,000 a year. (Areas west of the Tangipahoa River and north of La. 10 at Fluker.)
Vermilion Parish
Road District 7 proposition
To continue to levy a 10-year, 7.44-mill property tax, generating an estimated $550,000 a year. (Communities of Perry, Intracoastal City, Pecan Island, Esther and Mouton Cove.)
West Feliciana Parish
Parishwide Police Jury proposition
To levy a 25-year, 1-cent sales tax, estimated to generate $1.6 million a year, for sewer works, waterworks and sanitation facilities; public roads and bridges; and any other lawful purposes of the parish, in accordance with the goals and objectives in the comprehensive plan adopted by the West Feliciana Planning and Zoning Commission on Dec. 2, 2008.
