Video leads to arrest of suspect in burglaries
THIBODAUX — Lafourche Parish sheriff’s deputies used Walmart surveillance video to help arrest a man on burglary and other charges, deputies said.
Chad Breaux, 23, 352 E. 75th St., Cut Off, admitted to his role in a string of car burglaries in southern Lafourche Parish and to using a stolen credit card to buy hundreds of dollars in merchandise, deputies said in a statement Thursday.
Breaux was booked Wednesday on six counts of simple burglary, six counts of unauthorized use of a credit card, illegal possession of stolen things and simple assault, deputies said.
One burglary victim told deputies Wednesday that someone stole her wallet from her car the previous night and the wallet had at least two credit cards inside.
Her bank reported one of those cards was used at the Galliano Walmart and a convenience store, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Walmart video showed Breaux buying items and leaving, deputies said.
Deputies seized items stolen in six car burglaries, including electronics valued at more than $3,000; items purchased at Walmart and a convenience store, including a PlayStation and cigarettes; and a laptop computer, deputies said.
Deputies said Thursday Breaux remained in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux on a $25,000 bond and a Probation and Parole hold.
