Organizers of St. Amant and East Ascension high schools’ Shout-Out have moved the pep rally slated to start at 6 today from Cabela’s parking lot to the nearby Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, the coordinator said.

The move to the expo center’s 4-H Building was made because of expected rain, Shout-Out coordinator James LeBlanc said.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch through 7 tonight for much of southeastern Louisiana, including Ascension Parish. A watch means weather conditions are favorable for tornadoes.

LeBlanc said signs will be posted at Cabela’s to advise visitors about the new pep rally location. The expo center is located at 9039 St. Landry Road, Gonzales. St. Landry Road is just down La. 30 from Cabela’s.

The community pep rally has been held for the past eight years ahead of the East Ascension-St. Amant football game, which scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.
