Roger Wang, chairman and chief executive officer of one of China’s largest business concerns, has been named 2009 Alumnus of the Year by the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association.

Originally from Taiwan, Wang, who heads the Golden Eagle International Group, immigrated to the United States in 1970 and received his masters of business administration from Southeastern in 1973. He manages a successful real estate and retail business conglomerate located in Nanjing, China. The company has developed more than 1.26 million square meters of commercial and residential space throughout the Jiangsu and Shanxi provinces, Shanghai and Kunming. About .35 million square meters of land is under construction with an additional 3.47 million square meters in the initial planning stages.

He has received numerous awards, including the title of “Honorary Citizen of Nanjing.” Under his guidance and initiative, the company established the Golden Eagle International Charity Foundation to aid China’s disabled citizens.

In addition to his business activities in China, Wang is also the Chairman and CEO of Transpacific Management Co., established and based in Los Angeles in 1978. The company provides management services to its investment portfolios within Southern California. Wang lives in Beverly Hills, Calif., with his wife and two daughters.
