2 Franklinton men killed in head-on crash

FRANKLINTON — Two Franklinton residents died in a head-on collision on La. 10 about a mile west of La. 62 near the Sheridan community Monday night, State Police Troop L said Tuesday.

A 1999 Nissan Altima driven by Kerwin R. Vogt, 53, of Franklinton, crossed over the center lane of La. 10 and struck a 2002 Dodge Neon, driven by Michael Miley, 42, of Franklinton, troopers said.

After impact, the Nissan rotated and traveled 127 feet before stopping on the eastbound shoulder of La. 10. The Dodge traveled 28 feet and stopped near the westbound shoulder, troopers said.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office, troopers said.
