Third Louisiana Resource LLC, a subsidiary of Baton Rouge-based Resource Environmental Solutions LLC, has won the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ approval for Phase I of its mitigation bank in Cameron Parish.

The Petit Bois Mitigation Bank’s initial phase includes more than 263 acres of bottomland hardwood restoration and more than 16 acres of bald cypress/tupelo swamp ecosystem re-establishment.

The primary watershed serviced by the mitigation bank contains much of the city of Lake Charles, and Sulphur and West Lake, both major industrial areas. Petit Bois means little wood.

As more areas of the service area are developed for agricultural, industrial, commercial and residential uses, the mitigation bank will help reducee flooding and pollution within the Calcasieu Drainage Basin.
