DENHAM SPRINGS — Seven teenagers were arrested Thursday on suspicion of causing more than $30,000 in damage to the Juban Parc Junior High School construction site, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.
The seven, ranging from 15 to 18 years of age, are accused of pouring roof tar onto concrete, flattening metal and air conditioning ductwork by driving equipment over it, pulling down sprinklers and committing other acts of vandalism on a couple of occasions from August through mid-September, Chief Criminal Deputy Jason Ard said.
Undercover deputies assigned to the school, at 12470 Brown Road in Denham Springs, arrested the seven while they were trespassing on the construction site, a statement from the Sheriff’s Office says.
Six of the teens are juveniles, so their names weren’t released. All six are boys age 15 or 16 who reside in the south Denham Springs area, Ard said.
They were booked with criminal trespass, resisting arrest by flight, simple burglary, criminal damage to property and unauthorized use of a movable, the statement says.
The seventh defendant is identified as Damian Edward Quamme, 18, 23506 La. 22, Maurepas, the statement says.
Quamme was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center in Livingston on counts of criminal trespass, unauthorized use of a movable, criminal damage to property, simple burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, the statement says.
Quamme previously was arrested and booked May 5 with criminal damage to Maurepas School.
