Lafourche deputies snare Arkansas suspect
RACELAND — Lafourche Parish sheriff’s deputies captured a convicted sex offender wanted in Arkansas on vehicular homicide and other charges, deputies said Thursday.
Austin Pool, 55, 2367 La. 308, Raceland, was arrested Monday at that residence without incident after a sheriff’s team had put the house under surveillance, deputies said in a statement.
Pool was sent back to Arkansas on Wednesday, said Sgt. Lesley Hill Peters, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
The Franklin County, Ark., Sheriff’s Office wanted Austin on charges of failing to register as a sex offender, non-payment of child support and vehicular homicide, Lafourche Parish sheriff’s deputies said.
Pool was previously convicted in Arizona of molestation of a child, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
The U.S. Marshals Service in New Orleans informed sheriff’s deputies about Austin’s possible whereabouts in Raceland, deputies said.
