Deputies arrest counterfeiting suspect
CLINTON — East Feliciana Parish sheriff’s deputies on Monday arrested a suspect accused of passing a counterfeit $100 bill last week.
Sheriff’s Detective Terry Miller said deputies had recovered seven fake bills since Thursday.
The bills are printed on washed and bleached $5 notes and do not react to pens designed to detect counterfeit money, Miller said.
Deputies booked Antonio D. Moses, 32, 9931 Old Plank Road North, Clinton, with one count of monetary instrument abuse.
Other arrests are possible, Miller said.
The U.S. Secret Service also is investigating the distribution of the counterfeit money in East Feliciana and East Baton Rouge parishes, Miller said.
