Assumption arrests two in farm theft
LABADIEVILLE — Assumption Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested two men in the theft of $2,250 worth of acetylene torch equipment and other items reported stolen from a local farmer, deputies said Tuesday.
Deputies recovered the items last week after searching the home of Jayson Duet, 28, 2635 La. 1010, Labadieville, and, with the help of Lafourche sheriff’s deputies, at his Thibodaux storage unit, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
The torch and hoses were found at Duet’s house. An oxygen bottle, acetylene bottle, air-conditioner and outboard motor were found in Thibodaux, deputies said.
Duet’s alleged accomplice, Dusty Falcon, 27, 461 La. 400, Napoleonville, was arrested Monday and booked on simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and simple burglary, deputies said.
Duet was arrested Friday and booked on illegal possession of stolen things valued at more than $500 and simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, deputies said.
On Tuesday, both remained in Assumption Parish Detention Center in Napoleonville, deputies said.
Duet was being held in lieu of a $30,000 bond, Sheriff Mike Waguespack said.
He said Falcon awaits bond, but has had a probation and parole hold placed against him.
Those with information about the case can call the Sheriff’s Office at (985) 526-1627 or (985) 369-2912.
