MAUREPAS — Deputies arrested on Thursday a man accused of finding marijuana plants growing in his yard and taking care of them to have pot to smoke, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.

Deputies quoted Kenneth Herring, 49, 13785 Old River Road, Maurepas, as telling them that he decided to take care of the 5-foot-tall plants in order to harvest marijuana to smoke, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

Herring was booked into the Livingston Parish jail on one count of cultivating marijuana, deputies said.
