Authorities arrested a fourth person in the Aug. 23 home invasion and shooting of a couple on South Baptist Road, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are possible, said Dawn Panepinto, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.

Alice Walker, 33, of McMoore Road, Hammond, was arrested Friday and booked on first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and home invasion, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Monday.

Investigators believe Walker was at the scene of the slaying, but did not enter the couple’s home, Panepinto said.

Three men entered the house, killing Grace Lamonte, 68, and severely wounding her husband, Anthony Lamonte, 72,  Panepinto said. Anthony Lamonte remains hospitalized, Panepinto said Monday.

Panepinto said she doesn’t have any information on why the home invasion and shootings took place, but the people who entered the house may have been looking for someone else.

Three men remain in jail in that shooting, she said.

One of the men, Ronald Dean “Black” Bandy Jr., also is accused in a Livingston Parish slaying, said Jason Ard, chief criminal deputy the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Bandy, 24, of New Orleans, is accused of first-degree murder in the July 23 drive-by shooting of Gregory Brumfield, 27, of Albany, on Drake Road.

Another drive-by homicide occurred earlier that day on Drake Road about 700 feet from the spot of Brumfield killing, but it occurred on the Tangipahoa Parish side of the road, authorities said.

Panepinto said Tangipahoa Parish detectives are continuing to investigate that shooting, which resulted in the death of Clifton Calcota, 31, of Albany.

Benny Flowers, 23, 2720 Yorktown Drive, LaPlace, and Jarris Monroe, 25, 4106 E. Club Drive, St. Rose, remained in jail in the home invasion case, authorities said.
