LABADIEVILLE — Deputies called to break up a fight near a bar early Thursday ended up arresting a man on a drug distribution count after they found cocaine valued at $1,600 in his vehicle, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies trying to clear the crowd at JR’s Bar on La. 1014 in Labadieville shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday saw a vehicle blocking the road, deputies said.

Deputies saw that the driver, Charles Patterson, 27, 133 Violet St., Labadieville, was intoxicated and arrested him on counts of second-offense driving while intoxicated and simple obstruction of a roadway, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Bond was set at $81,000 and the state Office of Probation and Parole put a hold on Patterson, deputies said.
