Man kills wife, self in murder-suicide
A 42-year-old Centreville, Miss., man shot and killed his estranged wife in McComb, Miss., early today after he abducted her Wednesday night when she left work at a restaurant in West Feliciana Parish, Sheriff J. Austin Daniel said.
Michael S. Smith killed himself after fatally shooting his estranged wife, Kathy Smith, whom he abducted at gunpoint about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Daniel said the man ran the woman’s car off the road after she left work at South of the Border restaurant on U.S. 61 just south of the Louisiana-Mississippi line.
Michael Smith was recently released from the West Feliciana Parish Jail after he pleaded guilty on June 4 to a misdemeanor stalking charge, court records show.
