Free health care offered Tuesday
A second screening site to determine eligibility for free medical and dental care is set to open Tuesday in Denham Springs.
The Community Clinic offers free medical, dental, mental and vision care to people in a nine-parish region who are working but can’t afford health insurance.
The second screening site will be open 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the Women Outreaching Women Center, 26876 4-H Club Road.
A ribbon cutting is set for 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Screenings already are 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the Livingston Town Hall, 20550 Circle Drive, Livingston.
Applicants must bring a 2008 income tax statement, two most current pay stubs, proof of residency and photo identification.

More voters sought
The Livingston Parish Republican Women will hold a voter registration drive 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Stine’s Lumber, 29200 Walker South Road, Walker. Parish residents can register to vote, update addresses and change parties.
Play ball to battle cancer
Employees of the Livingston Parish Communications District, which runs the parish’s 911 emergency center, have organized a softball tournament fundraiser Saturday for district employee Arthur Cioni and his family.
Ciono’s wife, Carletta, died of cancer May 30, and the fundraiser is to help with the medical and recovery expenses. The softball tournament costs $100 per team to enter, and the deadline for entries is Wednesday.
