EBRSO makes arrest in Central murder
East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Detectives arrested Billy Joe Hebert, 31, Monday evening for the murder of 45-year-old David King Jr. of 12150 Hooper Road, according to a statement issued by Casey Rayborn Hicks of the Sheriff’s Office.
Hebert and King allegedly met at a men’s shelter in Livingston Parish and lived together in a motel for a short time before King obtained the trailer in Central where his body was discovered by his landlord Monday morning, Hicks said
Sheriff’s detectives responded to a call at 9:52 a.m. Monday and found King dead in his trailer, the apparent victim of foul play.
During the course of the investigation detectives talked to King’s boss and found out that he owned a small gray Isuzu pickup truck, which was missing. Also missing were King’s keys, wallet and $246 King received in pay Friday.
The truck was later spotted parked at the Village Motel on Florida Boulevard in Denham Springs. Hebert was seen entering the vehicle.
After executing a search warrant of Hebert’s room at the motel and interviewing him, authorities placed Hebert under arrest and charged him with first degree murder.
Detectives have been unable to locate any King’s relatives to notify them of his death.
