The University of Louisiana at Lafayette will hold an open house for transfer students from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Guillory Hall.

AgCenter seminar set on storm surge
The LSU AgCenter will offer seminars this month in New Iberia on how to use flood maps to predict flooding from hurricane storm surges.
The seminar will be offered at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Eastside Branch library in New Iberia and repeated at 1:30 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. July 21 at the St. Peter Street Branch in New Iberia.
Back-to-school fundraiser set
Pillows of Hope Women will host a back-to-school zydeco and rhythm-and-blues fundraiser July 26 at the Davis Disco Club on La. 31 in Cecilia.
Ten bands are scheduled to play. Doors open at noon. The first band starts at 1 p.m.
Admission is $10. Proceeds will pay for uniforms, school supplies and locker fees.
French-language picnic at Girard
Alliance Français de Lafayette will host a French-language picnic at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Girard Park.
Participants should pack a lunch and bring a chair.
There will be complimentary champagne and wine.
