Economic group to meet July 15

The Upper Lafayette Economic Development Foundation will hold its next meeting at 7:30 a.m. July 15 at the Acadiana Hills Country Club.

Pete Yuan, of IberiaBank, will discuss the local banking market, and Lafayette Utilities System Director Terry Huval will give a presentation on LUS Fiber, the city’s video, telephone and Internet service.

Mentoring group  sets orientation
Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Acadiana will hold orientation for potential mentors this month.

Sessions are set for today, July 18, July 22 and July 31 at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana office in downtown Lafayette.

Bicycle race set; roads to be closed
Portions of Richland Avenue, Worth Avenue and Biltmore Way will be closed from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday for the La Vuelta de Acadiana Stage Bicycle Race.

Iberia book clubs plan discussions
The Jeanerette Library Book Club will discuss the “The Secret Life of Bees” and view the film at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Jeanerette Library.

The Main Street Book Club in New Iberia will discuss “Water for Elephants” at 6 p.m. July 16 at the Main Library in New Iberia.
