Pointe Coupee bans use of fireworks
NEW ROADS — The Pointe Coupee Parish Police Jury on Thursday banned the use of fireworks in the unincorporated areas of the parish, citing the dry weather.
A resolution approved during a special meeting specifically prohibits the “use, discharge or ignition of any and all projectile fireworks,” including “bottle/stick rockets, missiles, Roman candles or any and all cylinder-launched devices.”
The ban, effective immediately, will remain in effect through the Fourth of July holiday until rescinded by the Police Jury.
