Man sought in Texas arrested in BR
A man wanted in a Texas murder was arrested in East Baton Rouge Parish, a law enforcement official said today in a news release.
East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested Avis Anderson, 27, about 6 p.m. Tuesday at a relative’s St. Croix Avenue home, Casey Rayborn Hicks, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, said in the release.
Anderson was hiding in a bedroom closet, the release says.
He was booked into Parish Prison as a fugitive from justice, Hicks said.
Sheriff’s deputies were alerted to Anderson’s whereabouts by detectives from the Forney, Texas, police department, Hicks said. The detectives told deputies they thought Anderson was hiding out at a relative’s home at 1925 St. Croix Ave.
Deputies converged on the house and arrested Anderson shortly after, she said.
