Group hires charter school principals
Advance Baton Rouge announced Wednesday it hired five new principals to run the nonprofit’s charter schools for the 2009-10 school year.
At Pointe Coupee Central High School in Morganza, Kimberly Germany will succeed former Principal Harry Wright, who resigned June 4, Advance spokeswoman Annie Morrison said.
Germany has more than 10 years of experience as an educator, most recently serving as an assistant principal at a high school in Nashville, Tenn., Morrison said in a news release. Averil Sanders Jr. will take over at Glen Oaks Middle School in Baton Rouge, following the resignation and reshuffling of three former principals at the school this year, Morrison said.
Sanders formerly served as an assistant principal, football coach and teacher in the New Orleans public school system, Advance reported.
Perry Daniel, a former principal in Shreveport, will head up Prescott Middle School in Baton Rouge, succeeding two other principals who presided over the school during the 2008-09 school year, Morrison said.
Principals were also named at Advance’s two newest charter schools in Baton Rouge, Dalton and Lanier Elementary schools.
Alfreda Hygh, a former administrator at Capitol Pre-College Academy in Baton Rouge, will lead Lanier Elementary, the news release said.
Ronnie Harrison, a former principal at Grambling State University Middle Magnet School in Grambling, will lead Dalton Elementary, the news release said.
