Rezoning hearing delayed to July 22
Acting at the request of developer David C. Slaughter, the East Baton Rouge Parish Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday deferred until July 22 action on a proposal to build a 115-unit apartment development in Spanish Town.
Slaughter’s plan for a six-story apartment building on land at State Capitol Drive, North Seventh Street, Lakeland Drive and North Sixth Street, would require rezoning the property from medium-density residential to high-density residential.
He said before the well-attended meeting that he wants to try to allay the concerns of the Historic Spanish Town Civic Association.
Holley Vaughn, a civic association board member, said Slaughter can revamp his plans, but any plan requiring a rezoning to high-density residential would be unacceptable.
