Livingston escapee captured
7:22 p.m.
LIVINGSTON -- A Denham Springs-area man who escaped from the Livingston Parish Detention Center about 3:30 p.m. today was captured about 7 p.m., deputies said.
About 100 sheriff’s deputies and officers from several law enforcement agencies had Jared Wayne Fedric, 31, surrounded in a wooded area south and west of the jail, deputies said.
Fedric slipped out due an apparent problem with the new facility and not due to any breakdown by jail personnel, said Perry Rushing, sheriff’s chief of operations.
Deputies had set up a perimeter and were tracking Fedric with dogs and a helicopter before he was captured.
