Two additional burglary suspects arrested
PORT ALLEN — Eleven people have been arrested so far in an ongoing investigation into a citywide burglary ring, the Port Allen Police Department reported Tuesday.
The latest taken into custody are a 17-year-old boy and a juvenile, police said.
Reginald Aites, 17, was arrested Thursday and booked into the West Baton Rouge Detention Center on one count each of simple burglary and theft, Police Chief Fred Smith said.
A juvenile was arrested on the same criminal counts as Aites, then booked into the St. James Youth Detention Center, Smith said.
As part of the same investigation, police issued an arrest warrant for Alcide Davis, 20, of Port Allen. Davis is wanted on counts of simple burglary, theft and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, Smith said.
With the arrests of Aites and the juvenile, whose name police have not released, Smith said his department has taken 11 suspects into custody.
Smith added that he believes the 11 arrested people are all implicated in a string of burglaries that began in March and continued throughout the city.
Smith said the Police Department expects to make more arrests.
