Police arrested a 15-year-old boy Sunday in the shooting death of a Prairieville man, a news release says.

The boy, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, is accused in the shooting early Saturday of Juan Gonzalez, spokesman Sgt. Don Kelly said in the release today.

Police suspect the juvenile entered the country illegally, the release says.

Gonzalez, 30, was shot about 2:15 a.m. in the 6000 block of Florida Boulevard, the release says.

The shooting occurred in the back seat of a vehicle in which both the suspect and victim were riding, the release says, adding that Gonzales and the juvenile were acquainted.

Patrol officers acted on a tip and arrested the juvenile about 6:45 p.m. without incident in BREC’s Red Oaks Park, 2098 Green Oaks Drive, the release says.

The teenager was put in the Juvenile Detention Center on a count of second-degree murder, the release says.
