A 30-year-old man was shot and killed while riding in a black Dodge truck on Florida Boulevard early Saturday morning, police said. One of the other four passengers was injured.

Police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said a 15- or 16-year-old boy shot and killed Juan Gonzalez, 44299 E. Villar Junior, Prairieville, at 2:13 a.m. in the 6000 block of Florida Blvd.

Police were still looking for the alleged shooter late Saturday. He left the scene on foot eastbound on Florida Boulevard, before officers arrived.

Police found the truck pulled over to the side of Florida with the victim already dead in the back seat. A female passenger who suffered a minor injury was taken to Baton Rouge General Mid-City by EMS. The other three passengers in the truck were detained for questioning.
McKneely said the victim and the alleged shooter knew each other but had an argument that became deadly.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Homicide Division at (225) 389-4869 or Crimestoppers at (225) 344-7867.
