WBRZ to air storm special today
WBRZ-TV News 2 Louisiana will air its hurricane special “Weathering the Storm” at 7 tonight (Channel 2, cable Channel 5).
The hour-long program will feature helpful advice for south Louisiana viewers as they prepare for the beginning of another hurricane season.
First and foremost, “Weathering the Storm” will provide viewers with information about lessons learned from Hurricane Gustav in 2008. From homeowners, to power companies to government response, the program will look at what Gustav taught residents about how to better prepare for a storm and deal with the aftermath.
Reporter Mike Steele will take a closer look at changes the Louisiana Legislature is considering that could make it easier on homeowners in the event that two named storms should strike.
And reporter Claire Hatty takes viewers to Lake Maurepas to look at hurricane protection efforts there.
The special will re-air on sister station WBTR-TV, Channel 41 (cable Channel 19). Viewers should check their local cable companies to see if WBTR is carried in their area.
The re-airings are: noon Saturday, 4 p.m. Sunday, 5 p.m. Tuesday, 8 a.m. Thursday and 7 p.m. June 6.
“Weathering the Storm” is hosted by WBRZ chief forecaster Pat Shingleton and meteorologists Dave Nussbaum and Chris Stevens.
