Houston man held in marijuana case
ALBANY — State Police seized more than 20 pounds of marijuana and arrested a Houston man on a drug distribution count during a traffic stop along Interstate 12 in eastern Livingston Parish early Friday, troopers reported.
Jimmy D. Babineaux Jr., 30, was arrested and booked into Livingston Parish Prison in Livingston on a single count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, troopers said in a statement Friday.
Babineaux’s rental car, a 2009 Toyota Camry, was pulled over for failing to signal a lane change near the I-12/Albany interchange shortly after 5 a.m., troopers said.
A Troop A K-9 brought to the scene responded to the scent of drugs in the Camry, prompting a search by troopers that turned up 20.4 pounds of marijuana, troopers said.

“They were lucky,” he said.
