Trinity Marine announces layoffs

Barge manufacturer Trinity Marine Products will lay off 190 workers in Brusly, the company’s Dallas headquarters confirmed.

In a brief statement, the company said the staff was notified Monday that the layoffs, which include hourly and administrative workers, will take effect July 17.

The company said the plant will remain open, and it blamed the decision on falling orders for the barges made there.

Nancy Ferrar, a public relations specialist in Dallas who represents parent company Trinity Industries Inc., said the company would make no other comments.
