Galliano man arrested in 2008 kidnapping

A Galliano man is in custody in Terrebonne Parish for an alleged 2008 kidnapping.
Yonni Gonzales de la Cruz, 22, whose last known address was 133 W. 175th St., was arrested in Houma during the weekend on a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for simple kidnapping.
In July, Gonzales de la Cruz allegedly left the country, fleeing to Mexico with his 15-year-old girlfriend and their infant child, according to a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office news release.
Officials say the teen’s mother has legal custody of the infant.
The FBI got involved after Gonzales de la Cruz traveled across the border, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The girl and the infant returned home to Cut Off in August, authorities reported.
Prosecutors and federal officials will decide which agency will charge Gonzales de la Cruz first, according to the news release.
