(AP) — Louisiana has five new suspected cases of swine flu, but the number of confirmed cases remains at seven.
Gov. Bobby Jindal said Monday that four of the new suspected cases are children from Lafayette. The fifth is an adult in Gonzales.
Jindal said the five are being treated at home with antiviral medication.
The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta announced this morning that it made a mistake by reporting that Louisiana has 14 confirmed cases of swine flu.
There are only seven confirmed cases in Louisiana, said Lauren Mendes, a spokeswoman for the Department of Health and Hospitals.
“The CDC just told us they made a mistake; they counted our cases twice,” Mendes said this morning
“We still only have seven cases,” she said.

The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta announced this morning that the number of confirmed cases of swine flu in Louisiana doubled overnight to 14.
The new number of cases was released when the CDC updated its Web site at 11 a.m. EST, but Louisiana officials have not released the new numbers.
Gov. Bobby Jindal said Sunday that the CDC had tested nine of the 25 samples sent to the CDC by Louisiana health officials. Seven of those samples tested positive and two tested negative.
