Geismar man sought in shooting, domestic violence, deputies say
GEISMAR — A Geismar man allegedly fired several shots at his ex-girlfriend early Thursday, Ascension Parish Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Tony Bacala reported.
Mark Perkins, 30, 11081 Conner Road, got into an argument with his ex-girlfriend on the road in front of his home, then fired several shots at her as she tried to drive away, Bacala said.
The gunfire struck the vehicle, but no one was injured, Bacala said.
Told that Perkins ran back into his home after the shooting, deputies unsuccessfully attempted to contact Perkins.
When Perkins did not respond, officers fired gas into the home to prepare for a forced entry by the Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Team, Bacala reported in a news release.
Although Perkins was not in the residence, deputies found narcotics inside, Bacala stated.
Perkins faces prosecution on criminal counts of attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, aggravated criminal damage to property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and domestic abuse battery, the chief deputy said.
Anyone with information about Perkins’ whereabouts is asked to call the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office at (225) 621-4636.
