Shotgun blast leads to arrests of two men
AMITE — Tangipahoa Parish deputies arrested two men on drug and weapons counts after hearing a shotgun go off in a bank parking lot along Amite’s main thoroughfare, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies, alerted by the shotgun blast, spotted a Toyota pickup in the Regions Bank parking lot on West Oak Street around 10:37 p.m. Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Wednesday.
The deputies, who were parked nearby, went to the truck with their weapons drawn and ordered two men inside the truck to get out, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The passenger, Gabriel Rohner, 44, 17360 Airport Road, Amite, told deputies he fired the shotgun into the air, deputies said.
Deputies found suspected drug paraphernalia on Rohner and the driver, Ryan Molaison, 27, 66193 La. 1058, Roseland, deputies said.
In the truck, deputies found a Stevens 12-gauge, double-barreled shotgun, with one live shell and one spent shell, deputies said.
Rohner was booked with possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal discharge of a weapon, possession of Schedule II narcotics, possession of a firearm while being in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and on a failure to appear warrant, deputies said.
Molaison was booked with possession of drug paraphernalia, deputies said.
