Cox Communications combining operations
Cox Communications said Tuesday it will merge the operations of its New Orleans market into its already combined Baton Rouge and Lafayette operations, creating the company’s third-largest U.S. market behind Las Vegas and Arizona.
Jacqui Vines, head of Baton Rouge-Lafayette market, will become head of the combined operations, boasting 500,000 Louisiana customers.
Cox’s New Orleans market is made up of Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard and St. Charles parishes.
Cox spokeswoman Ann Ruble said the move would not affect rates.
She said Cox is still analyzing the effect on total employment. But she said it should be minimal, considering that employment remained essentially flat when the Baton Rouge and Lafayette operations were combined three years ago.
