Iberville deputies probe shooting, stabbing
Iberville Parish Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting in Maringouin and a stabbing just outside Plaquemine in separate incidents early Sunday that left two men hospitalized.
Detective Hosea Anderson said Willie Williams, 23, was shot in the legs by a teenager who tried to rob Williams about 1 a.m. outside of Williams’ home on Hooper Street near Church Street in Maringouin.
Anderson said Williams exchanged words with the juvenile, aged 17, when the youth tried to rob him. Police were still seeking the youth on Monday afternoon.
The victim was transported to a Baton Rouge hospital for treatment of non-life threatening gunshot wounds, Anderson said.
Chief of Detectives Blair Favaron said the stabbing occurred about 1:40 a.m. near the American Legion Post on La. 1, just outside of Plaquemine.
Thomas Bosley, 63, of Truehope Lane, Plaquemine, was brought to River West Medical Center in Plaquemine with a stab wound to the abdomen, Favaron said. He was later transported to a Baton Rouge hospital.
Favaron said police, who were notified of the stabbing by hospital officials, got only a vague account of what happened from the victim.
