Roseland man arrested in domestic abuse case
INDEPENDENCE — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said a deputy ran down and captured a Roseland man wanted on domestic abuse and other warrants.
The man repeatedly knocked on a woman’s door early this morning and wanted to fight her when she did not open the door, the Sheriff’s Office said today.
Deputies spotted Deserie A. Johnson, 28, 62533 Church St., No. 23, Roseland, standing at the front door of a house at 55308 Mashon Road, Independence, after a woman in the house called 911 around 4 a.m., deputies said in a statement.
Johnson allegedly ran, jumping fences along the way, and deputies gave chase. Sgt. Schirra Finn caught Johnson, deputies said.
Deputies learned later that Johnson was wanted on five warrants, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Johnson was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Prison in Amite on a charge of resisting an officer by flight, a simple battery warrant and failure to appear warrants on counts of domestic abuse and simple assault, domestic abuse on a pregnant woman and resisting an officer, a traffic offense and driving under suspension, deputies said
