A 14-year-old student was arrested and booked with aggravated rape Thursday, accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl Tuesday at Prescott Middle School, Baton Rouge Police spokesman Don Kelly said Friday.

Because of the nature of the accusation and the ages of those involved, no names were released. Both are special-education students at the school.

Kelly said that although the incident occurred Tuesday, it was not reported to school officials until Thursday afternoon. School officials immediately gave the information to a Baton Rouge Police officer who patrols the school, Kelly said.

The incident occurred between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday in a vacant classroom, Kelly said.

There were two girls in the classroom at first and then five boys entered the room, Kelly said. All seven students are special-education students.

Kelly said only one of the five boys reportedly raped one of the girls.

The boy who was booked Thursday night admitted to police he had sex with the victim, claiming the sex was consensual, Kelly said.

The boy was taken to the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center, Kelly said.

He said it’s possible there could be more arrests next week after detectives interview the other boys.

“There might have been a situation where a boy or boys held the victim or the other girl down, but we don’t know yet,” Kelly said.

The grandmother of the alleged victim said Friday her granddaughter told her what happened. The Advocate does not identify the victims of sex crimes without their consent.

“She said those three boys held her down and she said, ‘Stop,’ and they wouldn’t stop,” the grandmother said.

The granddaughter also said the door to the room was shut and that some boys put tape over the door to keep it shut, the grandmother said.
