A St. Landry Parish grand jury indicted a retired parish School Board employee from Palmetto for the alleged molestation of a juvenile under the age of 13.

Grand jurors indicted Paul Soileau, 61, last week.

Soileau, who listed the School Board in Opelousas as his previous employer, faces a minimum sentence of 25 years to a possible maximum life imprisonment.

Authorities originally arrested Soileau on June 3 on charges of sexual battery, indecent behavior with a juvenile and molestation of a juvenile.

According to a sworn statement by the arresting officer, Soileau allegedly committed the molestation on a young girl who had spent the night at his home.

The alleged molestation occurred on four occasions in May.

Soileau allegedly confessed to the act, calling it a moment of weakness, while in the presence of his wife and another woman, according to the indictment.

In an unrelated incident, a grand jury chose not to decide on a case involving a Krotz Springs man who faces three counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile under the age of  13.

It is alleged that Robert Anthony Nall Jr., 23, violated two victims in the case, dating back to 2005 and 2006.

The pretermit return allows the District Attorney’s Office the opportunity to bring the case back to the grand jury at a later date.
