A Louisiana Technical College student walks into a classroom and guns down two women before killing herself.

A father allegedly stabs his two sons to death to get back at his estranged wife.

A DeQuincy man in town for a church service is shot while talking to his wife on a cell phone in what police suspect was an act of road rage.

A mother and her 3-year-old son are slain at a public park in front of two of her other children, who were then left there overnight by the attackers.

Those are among the 82 deaths in East Baton Rouge Parish last year classified as homicides.

Detectives with the Baton Rouge Police Department handled 66 of the cases. Deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated the remaining 16 killings.

The dates listed are the day an incident that caused a death occurred, which is not always the day a person died. Motives for killings are given when provided by law enforcement. Details of the crimes come from law enforcement agencies and prosecutors. Information about charges filed in the cases is current through Feb. 9.
