Deputy: ‘Home invasion’ a conspiracy
LIVINGSTON — Investigators determined that what appeared to be a home-invasion robbery of three people turned out to be a conspiracy in which only one victim was robbed, said Chief Deputy Jason Ard of the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.
A man armed with a shotgun entered a residence Saturday at 18998 Harrell Averett Lane, Livingston, and demanded money of the three people inside, according to the Sheriff’s Office; all three complied.
Detectives learned the crime actually was a conspiracy involving two of the supposed victims and the gunman, according to a news release the Sheriff’s Office issued Thursday.
Deputies said they booked Joseph Craig Blount, 26, 19255 Taylor Road, Livingston, with armed robbery; Brandi Gonzales, 27, of French Settlement, with accessory after the fact to armed robbery; and Ryan Gerald Didier, 27, 19889 Harrell Averett Lane, Livingston, with being a principal to armed robbery.
Detectives said Gonzales and Didier were at Didier’s home early Saturday morning along with the case’s only real victim.
In a prearranged plan, Blount, wearing a jumpsuit and a ski mask, entered the home with a shotgun and took items from all three occupants, according to the release.
However, Didier knew the gun was not loaded and cooperated by turning over his personal items as did the other two occupants, the release stated.
Gonzales later found out it was a staged robbery but did not report the crime to authorities, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
