8 booked in drug raid

PIERRE PART — Assumption Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested eight people on drug counts and are looking for a ninth person following a Friday night raid.

Members of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force searched a residence at 113 Bayou Corne Lane near the Pierre Part community where they spoke with residents Camille Rivere and Kannon Bernard, said Sheriff Mike Waguespack in a news release.

Both Rivere and Bernard are convicted felons and were detained after guns, Oxycontin and marijuana were found, the sheriff said.

While at the residence, agents answered incoming phone calls from potential buyers and gave instructions to come to the residence, Waguespack said.

Deputies arrested the suspects whenever they entered the house, according to Waguespack.

Booked into the Assumption Parish jail were:

• Rivere; 59; 113 Bayou Corne Lane, Pierre Part; possession of a firearm by a felon and possession with intent to distribute Oxycontin.
• Bernard; 53; 113 Bayou Corne Lane, Pierre Part; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, marijuana possession, and drug paraphernalia possession.
• Janice A. Cavalier; 45; 825 Belle River Road, Pierre Part; possession with intent to distribute Xanax.
• Patrick A. Dwyer; 28; 28455 Intercoastal Road, Plaquemine; attempt and conspiracy to possess Oxycontin.
• Jeffery L. Gautreau; 46, 15193 Palomino Lane, Prairieville; marijuana and Adderall possession.
• Adrian A. Rice; 26; 6161 La. 1, Belle Rose; attempt and conspiracy to possess Oxycontin.
• Ronald Wortmann Jr.; 27; 111 Joseph St., Pierre Part; marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia possession.
• Kinta Thompson; 27; 235 Daggs St., Belle Rose; attempt and conspiracy to possess Oxycontin.

Bond amounts were not available.

Also, Waguespack said a felony warrant has been issued for Russell Gain Grosso Jr., 26, unknown address, Pierre Part, for attempt and conspiracy to possess Oxycontin.
