Corps of Engineers, state set coastal plan meetings
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the state are holding six meetings to get public comments on the planning and construction of restoration projects in the Louisiana Coastal Area Plan.
The plan received authorization under the federal Water Resources Development Act of 2007 and included “critical” restoration projects.
All of the meetings will follow the same format: an open house at 6 p.m., formal presentations at 7 p.m., followed by questions and answers, and open comments.
The meetings are expected to end by 9 p.m. Here is a list of meetings and projects:

- Wednesday, Morgan City Municipal Auditorium, 728 Myrtle St., Morgan City: Convey Atchafalaya River Water to North Terrebonne Marshes Project.
- Thursday, Phoenix High School, 13073 La. 15, Braithwaite: Medium Diversion at White Ditch Project.
- Feb. 10, Houma Municipal Auditorium, 880 Verrett St.: Terrebonne Basin Barrier Shoreline Restoration Project.
- Feb. 11, St. James Parish Council Chambers, 5800 La. 44, Convent: Small Diversion at Convent/Blind Rivers Project.
- Feb. 12, French Settlement High School, 15875 La. 16, French Settlement: Amite River Diversion Canal Modification Project.
