GEISMAR — A confrontation between two men left one shot to death and the other facing prosecution on a count of manslaughter, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.
Deputies arrested a Geismar man Friday in connection with the fatal shooting of a Sorrento man, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.
Damien Latrel Hall, 26, 6205 La. 73, Geismar, was arrested Friday afternoon after investigators learned that he and victim Ronald Deloche Jr. had a physical confrontation that led to the shooting, sheriff’s Chief Deputy Tony Bacala said.
The cause of the confrontation is unclear at this time, he said.
Deputies booked Hall with manslaughter, then placed him in custody at the Ascension Parish Prison. Bond had not been set as of Friday evening.
Deloche, 32, 44268 George St., Sorrento, died after undergoing emergency surgery at a Baton Rouge hospital, Bacala said.
Deputies who responded to a one-car accident Wednesday evening at La. 73 near La. 30 found Deloche had suffered a single gunshot wound of the buttocks, Bacala said.
