Sex offender held on child sex count
A convicted sex offender was arrested Thursday after he allegedly received oral sex from a 13-year-old boy, an arrest affidavit says.

The 13-year-old boy approached Marshall J. Cooper, 67, outside of his home at 6761 Harry Drive, Apt. 4, and asked if he could use the restroom, the affidavit says.

After using the bathroom, the 13-year-old called Cooper into the room and asked Cooper if he could perform oral sex on him, the affidavit says. Cooper complied, the affidavit says.

After a minute, the boy appeared alarmed and angry and left the bathroom, the arrest affidavit says.

Cooper, who was convicted in 1999 for indecent behavior with juveniles, is a registered sex offender, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office Web site.

Cooper was booked into Parish Prison on a count each of indecent behavior with juveniles and crimes against nature, booking document show. His bond was set at $45,000.

Police are looking for a gunman who robbed a Family Dollar store on Saturday.

The incident occurred about 6 p.m. at the Family Dollar at 2875 Highland Road, said Sgt. Don Kelly, a police spokesman.

The armed robber was described as being a 5-foot-7-inch-tall black man with a medium build, Kelly said. He was wearing a black shirt, white tennis shoes and tan pants, Kelly said.
