10 arrested on DWI counts
A sobriety checkpoint set up in Livingston Parish led to 10 DWI arrests Saturday, State Police said in a news release.
Between the hours of 10 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday, more than 500 vehicles passed through the checkpoint in Walker on La. 447 south of U.S. 190, Trooper Russell Graham said in the news release.
State Police worked in conjunction with the Walker and Denham Springs police departments and the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office to conduct the checkpoint.
In addition to the 10 DWI arrests, authorities issued 24 citations for various violations, including open container violations, driving under suspension, possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule 3 drugs, failure to follow traffic control devices, expired motor vehicle inspections, improper/no child restraints and careless operation of vehicles.
