Five men sought in home robbery, beating
GREENSBURG — St. Helena Parish sheriff’s detectives are looking for at least five masked men who pistol-whipped a man and held a woman at gunpoint during an armed home invasion earlier this week, deputies said Friday.
Deputies said the men broke into a house on Tillery Lane west of Greensburg off La. 10 and were waiting inside when the couple came home around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Joe Chaney, chief of detectives for the parish sheriff’s office.
“We don’t know what their motive (was), if it was just a random robbery or what the situation was. A lot of the details are still under investigation,” Chaney said in a statement Friday.
He said Friday that he did not know whether the incident was connected with other recent, unsolved home invasions in Tangipahoa and Livingston parishes.
The 22-year-old man who was pistol-whipped did not receive life-threatening injuries but was hit twice with a handgun, Chaney said. The men made off with a small amount of cash and an identification card, he said.
Those with information on the incident should call the Sheriff’s Office at (225) 222-4413.
