Golden Meadow man dies of injuries from crash
A Golden Meadow man was killed Tuesday when he failed to yield the right-of-way and an 18-wheeler struck his Mercedes sport utility vehicle, Louisiana State Police said in a news release.
Anthony Guilbeau, 79, was driving his Mercedes westbound on La. 3161 near the intersection of La. 3235 in Galliano, State Police said.
Guilbeau failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign and was struck on the driver’s side door by an International truck pulling a tanker filled with salt water, State Police said.
Guilbeau was taken to Lady of the Sea Hospital in Galliano where he was later pronounced dead, State Police said.
Roosevelt Nevers, 49, of Hammond, was driving the truck northbound. He suffered minor injuries and was treated at the hospital in Galliano, State Police said.
Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash, State Police said.
